We've prepared a straightforward visual guide to help you navigate the certification, recertification, and upgrade process. Please note that all information is sourced from www.irata.org, and you should refer to their official documentation for guidance.

General Information:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • No prior experience is necessary.
  • A natural aptitude for working at heights is advantageous.

Attaining an IRATA Level 1 Certificate:

  1. Register for an IRATA L1 course.
  2. Attend a minimum of 4 days of training.
  3. Complete a written test on Rope Access IRATA 1, administered during the training.
  4. Undergo a 1-day L1 Rope Access Assessment conducted by an independent IRATA Assessor (not affiliated with Pacific Ropes).

Validity of Certificate:

  • Your Level 1 certificate is valid for 3 years from the date of assessment.
  • Recertification is possible within 180 days of the expiry date by repeating the Level 1 certification process.
  • Extensions may be granted with an application to IRATA (visit irata.org for more details).

Expired Level 1 Certificate:

  • An expired certificate renders you no longer certified to perform rope access operations.
  • You can no longer log hours in your Logbook.
  • However, the hours logged before your certificate expired remain valid and count towards your total logged hours.
  • Recertify by repeating the Level 1 certification process, and your new expiration date will be the date of the successful assessment.
