Overview
The Assistant Trainer will be responsible for supporting the Lead Trainer in planning and executing all training courses at Pacific Ropes’ training centers, including rope access and other work-at-height programs.
Job Duties:
- Assist with ongoing training classes for all course types (e.g., IRATA, SPRAT, fall protection, tower climbing, confined space, rescue, Petzl PPE, and other work-at-height programs).
- Help implement supplemental course materials and guides that address individual and course-specific learning needs.
- Apply flexible teaching strategies to relay both theoretical knowledge and practical application.
- Supervise and coordinate smaller student groups during training.
- Ensure appropriate skill sets, equipment, and resources are available for each training class.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, regulatory requirements, and safe work-at-height standards.
- Maintain and help manage training center equipment.
- Provide constructive feedback, instruction, and encouragement to students.
- Progress through training maturity tools and professional development plans.
- Evaluate training activities for effectiveness; provide input to the Training team.
- Work with Pacific Ropes Administration to ensure paperwork, documentation, and resources are completed and available.
- Support compliance with training standards and requirements across all course types.
- Follow Pacific Ropes Instructor’s Manual; communicate suggested improvements when necessary.
- Demonstrate commitment to Pacific Ropes’ training mission and values.
- Adjust teaching methods and suggest alternative solutions to continuously improve training delivery.
- Assist with training equipment inspections.
- Help maintain cleanliness and organization of classrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, and training areas.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- Minimum IRATA 2 certification
- First Aid Certification
- At least 5 years of industry experience in rope access or work at height.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
